DocConverter Release Notes 2015 R5.0

This software release for ActivePDF DocConverter 2015 5.0 (2015.5.0.18347) includes bug fixes.

Software Requirements

The following software is required to successfully use DocConverter.

Windows Server® 2008 R2, 2012 R2, or 2016
Microsoft® .NET Framework 4.0 (If it is not detected, it will be installed automatically)

Optional Software Applications

Note: DocConverter only supports the 32-bit versions of the following applications:

(Recommended) Default converter: LibreOffice® 4.2 (if not installed, DocConverter can install it automatically)
Install these applications if you want to use their native converters instead of the default converter:
- Microsoft Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®, Visio®, Publisher (DocConverter currently supports Versions 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016)
- Fuji® Xerox® DocuWorks™ Viewer Light 7.2.1 minimum
- Corel® WordPerfect®, X5, X6, and X7 (WordPerfect 15, 16, 17)

Notes:

Install the applications before installing DocConverter.
If this is the first time you are installing an ActivePDF product released in 2017 or later on a Windows 2012 server, you need to download and install two Microsoft updates for Windows 2012 servers. These updates resolve issues with the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Runtime Components. Hardware Requirements

The minimum hardware requirements for DocConverter are:

512 MB of RAM
150 MB of hard disk space (for application)

Note: Additional hard disk space is needed to meet the requirements of the installed applications and the volume of files being processed.

Enhancements

General updates to the code base for improved performance.

Additionally, there is a new option to disable Excel's Update Links for added security in the DC_Converters.xml configuration file located in:

C:\ProgramData\ActivePDF\Settings\DocConverter

You can set the option to 0 (disable Update Links) or 1 (enable Update Links). The default is 0.

Bug Fixes

The following bugs were resolved since the last release.

5322	A PDF converted to an Excel document contains text only, and no images.	Changes to the code related to images resolved this issue.
16584	When a PDF file is converted to HTML, some images do not display correctly.	Changes to the code related to PDF to HTML conversion resolved this issue.
16893	WebGrabber can convert a file to PDF, but when DocConverter converts the document to DOCX, an error occurs.	Changes to the code related to file conversion resolved this issue.
17305	Bullet points in a PDF file are missing when the PDF is converted to a Word document.	Changes to the code related to file conversion resolved this issue.
17424	The top part of a PDF page is cut off when converting a .PNG file.	Changes to the code related to image scaling resolved this issue.
17620	Extract tabular data from PDF, then export to Microsoft Excel in an organized cell format.	Changes to the code related to converting PDF files to Excel to better handle tables resolved this issue.
17700	A file failed conversion to PDF/A, and no error message generated.	Changes to the code related to file conversion resolved this issue.
17710	Client file not processed PDF to PDF.	Changes to the code related to PDF to PDF conversion resolved this issue.
17997	Image displays larger than anticipated, even with Image Scaling on.	Turn Word linked image updates on or off in DC_Converters.xml configuration file located in: `C:\ProgramData\ActivePDF\Settings\DocConverter` Set the option to 0 (disable Update Links) or 1 (enable Update Links).
