Active PDF DocConverter - Getting Failure code/Description
We are currently using Active PDF DocConveter for converting a document from a different extension to PDF. We have huge files that need to be converted, some of those files failed during the conversion.
When we try to find out why files failed in DocConverter we have to open every individual file to see if it because of password protection, encrypted, corrupted, etc., which is a manual and time-consuming job.
We tried to systematically get the failure reason out of DocConnverter using the Watch folder but we can only see files on the error folder nowhere we could find error description. We even tried Rest API to see if it returns an error description of failure files but all we get is a generic error description.
It would be really great if we can get the error description to understand why the file fails, with which we can decide how to handle the failures.
The Watch Folder system is pretty basic and has limited options. The only resource for error description is parsing through the log file.
Note that you may enable Verbose logging through the Configuration Manager if you would like to obtain more detailed information. The verbose logging creates quite a bit of extra data, so be careful with it and be sure to clear it out as needed.
If you would like more control over the conversion process. You may create your own application, check the results of each conversion, and capture any error messages.
