PDFPrint vs. PDFExport
This articles compares the PDFPrint and PDFExport calls.
DocConverter provides two PDF conversion types -- PDFPrint and PDFExport.
- PDFExportexports the document using the native application's export feature. The resulting export is then converted to PDF. This is the recommended conversion type. Note that some PDF Profile settings are not supported with PDFExport.
- PDFPrint prints a document through the native application (Word, Excel, etc.) to a DocConverter printer. The resulting print job is then converted to PDF.
To set the ConversionType from the User Interface (CUI):
- From the Start menu, select All Programs > ActivePDF > ActivePDF User Interface.
- In the Navigation pane, click ActivePDF DocConverter, then click DocConverter Application Settings.
- Right-click the application of your choice (Default, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Solid, Toolkit, Visio, Word, WordPerfect), and then select New > DocConverter Application.
- In the DocConverter Application window, click the Office Settings
- Select PDFPrint or PDFExport from the Converter Type dropdown list.
- Click Save.
